China Mobile Limited is the largest wireless carrier (cellular service provider) in China. It is arguably the world's biggest wireless carrier as well. China Mobile is believed to have more than 600 million subscribers.

In 2008, the Chinese government significantly reorganized the domestic mobile telecom industry by asking China Mobile to promote the home-grown TD-SCDMA standards. And by issuing various 3G licenses to China Mobile (TD-SCDMA), China Unicom (WCDMA) and China Telecom (CDMA), China now effectively has three different standard-bearing wireless carriers competing for customers.
